![]() ![]() Not that they would schedule someone to work all their available hours - it just gives them more flexibility with scheduling. Granted, I would think they look more favorably upon someone with more available hours to offer because it makes their scheduling more flexible. The scheduling is computerized, with some human intervention, so the computer couldn't schedule you outside of those hours. If you would apply and state on your application or in your interview that you are interested in working for them and are available Monday through Friday 9am - 2pm and are then hired by them, you would only ever be scheduled between the hours of 9am - 2pm. What I like so much about Kohl's is that they seem to work with one's availability. Newt, any chance you are near Lancaster? Also, do you ever see people hired for mid-day, as in, while the kids are in school? DH works late many nites and every Sat and Sun so my options are limited. I like the people who work there and I like the people who shop there.Īs the previous poster said, there is a shift differential for adset workers who work past a certain hour but in my store our adset workers don't work into the wee hours of the morning. The store is 5 minutes from my home which is another plus. My Kohl's is great with working with your availability, within reason. When they give an extra 15% off for employee shopping days or when you have a Pick a Day coupon for 15% and then get your 10-15% on top of that, you end up getting 23-27% off items (if my math is correct). I have always loved shopping at Kohl's so the additional 10-15% off is great. But-sure I am working for some extra money but there was more to my decision to work for Kohl's and to ultimately stay with Kohl's. ![]() So-if you goal is to make as much money as you can working part-time, Kohl's would not be the answer as I am sure you can find other retail or part-time jobs paying more. I cannot verify, but I hear Home Depot and Sam's Club begin part-time workers at $10/hour to fetch shopping carts. I believe Walmart begins workers at $7.50- $8.00/hour in my area as does most retail in my local mall. I live in SE PA which is considered a high cost of living area so Kohl's wages are way low for retail in this area. The Kohl's in my area starts most workers at $7.00/hour. I would think that Kohl's has different starting part-time salaries depending on where the store is located in the US and the cost of living in that particular area. ![]() I can only handle one nite a week without sleep. Now I just go in either a Friday nite and a Tuesday nite. My first year I was almost working 40 hours week, on top of my full time job. Kohl's gives employees 15% on most things, except households is 10%. Like I said, Kohl's likes to change ads from 20% off to 25% off, back to 20% off, to 40% off, all within the same week. There were a lot of nites, that you didn't get done at 6:00 a.m., we would work till at least 7:30-8:30 a.m. It would take me almost 4 -5 hours to get this department done. You receive all the ad's for your depart. My opinion? Kohl's is absolutely nuts with changing their prices. You can work anywhere from 1 day to 7 days a week if you want. ![]()
